Bhakkar is a city of Islamic republic of Pakistan. It is situated in the Punjab. The word “BHAKKAR” came into being an Urdu word “BEH KAR” which means “floating”. It was the result of Indus River floating and then the river changes its way and this city came into being. Now it is situated on the bank of INDUS RIVER. It has population of almost 3, 50,000.
Bhakkar is main district. It has four tehsils. (a) Bhakkar (b) Kallur kot (c) Darya Khan (d) Mankera
The language of Bhakkar and its areas is Urdu, saraiki, Punjabi and now educated people also use English. However other local languages are spoken by its areas people like Thalochi, Rohi etc.
In the past Bhakkar was known as a city of dessert or city of sand and also known as less progress and uneducated area. But now it has developing very fastly. If we discuss the way of education the Bhakkar city are better education systems. It has Govt. and private schools and Colleges which are serving and preparing the future of Pakistan. Here are most intelligent and hardworking teachers and students. The fast growing private colleges and schools are now available in Bhakkar like The Educator School system, Superior Groups of colleges, and Punjab Group of Colleges etc. Besides the traditional education institutes there are Technical education institutes are also working for preparing the students to develop the progress of country in industrial field. Only two technical institutes are working One is GCT (Govt. College of TEVTA) and NNPI (New national Polytechnic Institute).
The Bhakkar has historical places also like “DIL KUSHA BAGH “which is also known as Mughal garden built by Hummayun. Qasr e zainab is a most religious place in this city. It is the biggest building of Bhakkar city.
The old towns build and walled and had the tavela, Imamanwala and king gate. After the British rule was end this king gate was replaced by the name of JINNAH Gate.
The weather of Bhakkar remains very hot in summer and very cold in winter. However it is a sandy area in summer day time very hotness due to sand but at night time it is cool night due to the coldness of sand.
There are industries in Bhakkar MM flour Mill, cotton factory and CTTM (Colony Thal Textile Mills) which is distinguished now. Bhakkar is an agricultural area. Every year many crops are supply from here like Wheat, Cotton, Maize, Sugar Cane and many more. Mostly people’s profession is agriculture.
In the city the Islamic community. But some Christians also live with peace. They are also doing their services in different fields. They also have the facilities as like Muslims. View Larger Map
